Asbestos is an organic mineral which naturally occurs in certain rock formations. Manufacturing of asbestos containing material was ban in 1978, but, was still distributed until 1981. If disturbed, it may release airborne fibers. These fibers, when inhaled, have been determined to cause pulmonary disease and cancer.
